Publisher's Summary:
Dog Man by Dav Pilkey introduces young readers to a hilariously unconventional superhero who is part dog, part man, and all heart. Created by George and Harold—familiar faces from the Captain Underpants series—Dog Man is born after a police officer and his loyal canine partner, Greg, are gravely injured and saved by an experimental operation that fuses Greg's head onto the officer's body. The result is a lovable hero with a keen nose for justice, a playful spirit, and a few doglike habits that sometimes get him into trouble with his boss, the Chief of Police.

Set in a bustling city plagued by zany criminals, the story's primary antagonist is Petey the cat, an evil genius whose inventive schemes and gadgets keep Dog Man on his toes. The book unfolds as a series of graphic novel chapters, each packed with colorful illustrations and laugh-out-loud moments. It's a visual treat, with bold lines and a childlike artistic style that encourage young readers to try drawing their own comics.

Dog Man's adventures explore themes of friendship, loyalty, doing the right thing, and embracing what makes us different. The story's humor, accessible language, and intentional misspellings make it especially approachable for reluctant readers. It's a perfect classroom pick for grades 1-4, offering opportunities for lessons on storytelling, character motivation, and the creative process. With its blend of silly fun and genuine heart, Dog Man is sure to inspire both giggles and imagination in your students.
